Escape to Mt Barney Retreat, a serene wilderness haven nestled in the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests, offering breathtaking views, rustic comfort, and a sustainable connection to nature just two hours from Brisbane.
Mt Barney Retreat is a genuine wilderness haven, perched high in the mountains of the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Surrounded by pristine rainforest, ancient Antarctic beech trees, natural bushland, and 22,000 hectares of Mt Barney National Park, the retreat offers breathtaking views and a serene, private setting. Conveniently located just a two-hour drive from Brisbane, it’s the perfect destination to reconnect with nature in its purest form.
The retreat features two cabins, each accommodating up to eight people. While simple, they are designed for comfort, staying cool in summer and slightly chilly during winter, typical of Australian highland conditions. Afternoon shade and louvre windows on both sides of the cabins allow for excellent air circulation, ensuring a refreshing summer breeze.
Spanning 130 hectares of forested land, the retreat’s facilities are concentrated within two hectares of open space. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, a rustic bush hall, a covered campfire area, and clean toilets with hot showers. With a strong commitment to sustainability, the number of sites is limited, ensuring guests can enjoy the quiet and peaceful ambience of the surrounding forests and mountains.
