Minjerribah Camping offers an ideal island camping experience on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), located just off the Brisbane coast. With four camping grounds across three townships and two foreshore camping grounds, the site provides options for both powered and unpowered campsites, catering for tents, camper trailers, and caravans. Additionally, there are fully equipped cabins, unique EcoShacks, and glamping options, including Eco Island Tents nestled in shaded areas. These facilities allow visitors to connect with nature while enjoying modern comforts.
The camping experience is elevated with 500 natural beachfront campsites, offering stunning views of the island’s white sandy beaches. Minjerribah Camping is also dog-friendly, welcoming pets in designated beach camping areas at Main Beach and Flinders Beach.
North Stradbroke Island is renowned for its pristine beaches and extensive native forests that are rich with wildlife. The island is a popular destination for 4WD enthusiasts, surfers, and anglers, with other activities including scuba diving, swimming, kayaking, sandboarding, and bushwalking. Visitors can also enjoy sightings of dolphins, turtles, manta rays, kangaroos, and koalas. During the annual humpback whale migration, there are spectacular opportunities for whale watching.
This island camping retreat perfectly blends nature with convenience, making it an ideal getaway for outdoor enthusiasts.
EcoShack
Two innovative EcoShacks are located at the Amity Point Camping Ground, inspired by traditional Australian tents and the classic North Stradbroke Island fishing and beach shacks. These EcoShacks also incorporate cultural elements of the Quandamooka People, reflecting their connection to the land, seasons, and wildlife.
Each EcoShack is equipped with rainwater tanks, large windows, fan cooling, and raised foundations to capture the island breezes. The windows and doors are fitted with heavy-duty canvas zippered screens, and the main door features a unique inlay design by Quandamooka artist Belinda Close. Positioned directly on the beachfront, these EcoShacks offer stunning views of the sunsets over Moreton Bay.
Designed with environmental sustainability in mind, they employ best practices in water and sewage treatment, ensuring a minimal ecological footprint. Each EcoShack accommodates four guests, with a minimum stay of three nights required.
Unpowered Camp Site
Shady and sheltered unpowered campsites are available, with communal camp kitchens and modern amenities. Accessible by both on and off-road vehicles, these sites are suitable for caravans, camper trailers, and tents. Foreshore camping, which is accessible only by four-wheel drive, offers a more rustic experience with limited or no amenities. Campers need to bring all their supplies for this back-to-nature experience. Dogs are welcome at the Main Beach and Flinders Beach camping areas, but must be kept on a leash at all times.
Powered Camp Site
The powered campsites are similarly shaded and sheltered, and come with access to communal kitchens and modern amenities. These sites are also accessible to both on and off-road vehicles, welcoming caravans, camper trailers, and tents.
Cabins
The Adder Rock and Amity Point Camping Grounds offer fully furnished one and two-bedroom cabins. These cabins include fully equipped kitchens, air-conditioning, television, linen, and private parking. Some cabins feature ensuite bathrooms, while others share communal amenities blocks.
Eco Island Tents
Nestled among shady trees, the eco island tents provide a comfortable yet nature-focused camping experience. While guests share communal bathroom and kitchen facilities, they can enjoy their own private space within the serene environment. Located close to pristine beaches, these tents offer a perfect blend of nature and comfort.
