Experience ultimate seclusion and eco-friendly luxury at Wongari Eco Retreat, where serene cabins nestled in lush rainforest offer a perfect blend of comfort, sustainability, and breathtaking natural beauty.
Wongari Eco Retreat offers a secluded and private getaway nestled beside the pristine, rapid-filled headwaters of Christmas Creek. Located just 90 minutes from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast, this intimate romantic retreat is set on the edge of the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park.
If your idea of relaxation includes lounging on a spacious deck surrounded by rainforest and wildlife, reading a book, birdwatching, swimming in private rapid-filled rock pools, or roasting marshmallows over a fire under the stars, then Wongari Eco Retreat is the perfect spot for you.
For those seeking adventure, there is plenty to explore. Wongari is situated in a stunning gorge, with easy access to gentle walks on the property along Waterfall Creek and Christmas Creek, as well as into the wilderness section of Lamington National Park. The famous Stinson Wreck and Westray’s Grave walks are nearby and are marked but unformed.
The retreat features two cabins, each with its own private access gate, nestled within six acres of forest. With 200 metres of frontage along Christmas Creek and Waterfall Creek, you are guaranteed privacy and tranquility. The holiday cottages are fully self-contained, offering a wood fire and oven, rainforest deck, king-sized bed, and rainforest shower.
Wongari Eco Retreat is also proudly pet-friendly, ensuring you can enjoy your relaxation time with your best friends by your side.
Bimbul (Hoop Pine)
Bimbul is the second of the two cabins, thoughtfully designed to blend with the grove of Hoop Pines it sits among, hence its name. This open-plan and vibrant cabin is nestled within a canopy of trees, perched above the creek, and beneath the imposing Buchanans Fort. Its location alone is impressive, but Bimbul also offers two fireplaces, a daybed, a king-sized bed, a spacious self-contained kitchen, and natural toiletries. With power sourced from their own hydro-electric turbine, Bimbul provides a uniquely sustainable and comfortable wilderness retreat.
Serenity Cabin
Serenity, their first cabin, has truly earned its name after five years of welcoming guests.
Located just 10 metres from Christmas Creek, the soothing sound of the water running over rocks lulls you into a peaceful state. Towering trees surround the cabin, providing natural pathways for wildlife. During your stay, you might encounter wallabies, echidnas, and long-nosed bandicoots, among other special creatures.
The shower in Serenity features two glass walls that offer views of a tropical garden illuminated by soft lighting. Tucked away in its own private rainforest, this secluded cabin ensures complete privacy, allowing you to unwind and relax without interruption.
Serenity is an open-plan, fully self-contained cabin equipped with a complete kitchen, barbecue, wood-fired bakers oven, microwave, and an outdoor fire. All firewood is provided. The cottage features a king-sized bed that can be converted into two single king beds. High-quality linen is provided to ensure your comfort during your stay.
