Experience the charm of Brisbane’s iconic New Farm Park, where lush riverside landscapes, vibrant cultural events, and endless family-friendly activities create the perfect urban escape.
New Farm Park, one of Brisbane’s oldest, most iconic, and largest parks, welcomes over 18,000 visitors every week from across the globe. Spanning 37 acres, it’s a beloved destination where families and friends gather on weekends to relax, enjoy picnics, fire up the barbecue, kick a football, or simply unwind under the trees or in the open green spaces.
This city-owned park frequently hosts free live music performances at its charming rotunda, along with a variety of special events throughout the year.
Before European settlement, the New Farm area was bushland interspersed with shallow lagoons. After the establishment of the Moreton Bay convict settlement, the land was initially used for farming before being subdivided in 1843. From 1846 to 1913, the site housed a racecourse until the Brisbane City Council acquired it and transformed it into a public park, officially opening New Farm Park in 1919.
The park borders the Brisbane River, with a riverfront boardwalk linking it to the Brisbane CBD, accessible either on foot or via the CityCat ferry terminal.
Adjacent to the park is the Brisbane Powerhouse, a stunning heritage building reimagined as a vibrant arts and culture hub. Visitors can enjoy live music, comedy, theatre, weekend farmers’ markets, and seasonal events such as the moonlight cinema.
